Seize the Future
Envisioning What's Next
"If the best way to predict the future is to invent it," as one pundit put it, then what's the best way to invent it? That's what a Seize the Future session is all about. This hybrid of a search conference and creative thinking workout helps forward-thinking companies imagine, envision, conceive, and plan for exciting new possibilities - 3, 5, and 10 years out.
Here's how it works: Weeks before the session you invite a representative sampling of your workforce to participate - forward thinking people with a passion for organizational change and the willingness to enter into a collaborative process that requires creative thinking and genuine commitment. Ideally, participants will represent a wide range of constituencies, job functions, and points of view.
A Seize the Future session begins with participants identifying key future trends likely to impact the success of the organization. Participants then review your organization's history and identify key lessons learned. Drawing on the insights gleaned from reviewing your organization's history and interpreting future trends, participants co-develop a shared, compelling vision of a desirable future - along with a beginning plan for its realization.
The result of this upbeat, participatory session is a critical mass of employees committed to championing the new vision and leading the organization in its day-to-day efforts to make it real.
