Innovation at Work
Charting a Course for Breakthrough Business Growth
For most people, the creative process is a random event. Unpredictable.
Discontinuous. A long shot fueled by caffeine, occasional flashes of
brilliance, and an inspired sense of urgency. Organizations, however,
cannot afford to rely on this phenomenon if they expect to innovate in
today's radically changing marketplace. For that, something else is
needed — a more conscious, collaborative, coherent approach that ensures
greater dependability (while still allowing mavericks and skunk works to
thrive.) Is there an off-the-shelf blueprint or formula that can
guarantee organizational innovation? No there isn't. But there are
time-tested principles, processes, and best practices capable of guiding
your effort. That is, if they are intelligently adapted and applied to
your specific organizational culture. That's what Innovation at Work is
all about.
A Think Tank for Business Leaders
Innovation at Work is a dynamic 1-3 -day think tank for business leaders, senior managers, and change agents committed to improving their organization's culture of innovation. Together, they define, envision, discuss, brainstorm, strategize, and align themselves on how to establish a workplace environment conducive to long-term innovation. Together, they decide on the scope of the effort and how to enroll support so that everyone in the organization accepts personal responsibility turning theory into practice.
Participants will:
- Clarify their understanding of their company's "innovation challenge"
- Agree to key targets of the culture change process
- Begin the process of re-inventing company systems, structures and policies
- Refine their organization's idea development/evaluation process
- Identify key innovation challenges that selected teams will later brainstorm
- Identify an Innovation Design Team to spearhead the innovation initiative
- Identify a Sr. Team sponsor and team leaders to champion key initiatives
- Establish Senior Team agreements re: collaboration and communication
- Jump-start the process of creating a communication plan
